Diamonds 16 West wins Sandlott Wood Bat World Series in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

The team went 6-1 for the week. 2-1 in pool play and then 4-0 in the championship bracket. Diamonds defeated "PB Baseball" out of Cleveland, Ohio in the Championship game, 11-8.

The tournament included 18 teams from Alabama, Tennessee, Cincinnati & Cleveland (Ohio), Michigan and two teams from Ontario-Canada.

Making the all tournament team were Chris Johnson (East Kentwood), Derek Coutchie (Grandville), Caleb Walcott (Hudsonville) and Derek Dennis (Forest Hills Central). Johnson was awarded MVP of the tournment.

Other members of the team include: Zane Breslin (Zeeland East), Tommy Enslen (Middleville), Tyler Finch (Grandville), Jordan Keur (Hudsonville), Joey Van Gessel (Grandville), Zach Van Noord (Hudsonville), David Winters (Hudsonville), Jarrett Luyk (Hudsonville).

Ryan Kolean (Hudsonville) and Joey Larson (Ludington) played on the team but were not able to participate in this tournament.

Diamonds West finishes it's summer season with a 26-7-1 record. The team was coached by Dave Van Noord (Hudsonville), Roy Finch (Grandville) and Joe De Smit (Hudsonville).
• Diamonds 13U team finished the season with a 35-10 record. They won the 13U Cannonsburg Sandy Koufax League with a 17-2 record. They also won their District which qualified them for the 13U World Series where they finished 4-1. Congratulations on a remarkable year.

• Diamonds 14U team finished with a record of 41-6-1. They won the 14U Sandy Koufax League out at Cannonsburg with a 17-1-1 record. They won or finished 2nd at every tournament they entered, Including winning the prestigious Mayors Cup tourney in Battle Creek. Our 13U and 14U were clearly the cream of the crop in the West Michigan area.

• Diamonds 15U had a great 1st season. Managed by Dave VanNoord and Roy Finch, this team took 2nd in a 16U tournament, also had a good showing in the Mayors Cup in Battle Creek playing in a 16U bracket.

• Diamonds 16U dominated this area at their age group. They won 2 tournaments and finished the season 31-8. 5 of their losses came against 18U competition. This team was coached by Jimmy Moore and Casey Fisk.

• Diamonds 17U went 31-9 on the year. These players had a special season. They won all 4 tournaments they entered without losing a game! They won the Kalamazoo Wooden Bat Tourney, and 3 USSSA tournaments including the State Tourney. They traveled to Edmond, Oklahoma for the 17U USSSA World Series where they took 3rd in the country!

• Diamonds 18U was one of the top teams in Michigan. They finished with a 39-9 record. Diamonds 18U won the Kalamazoo District which qualified them for the North Central Super Regional. The Super Regional has the final 14 teams in the Midwest associated with AABC. Diamonds won their 1st game 1-0 behind the superb pitching of Jesse Hernandez who tossed a 3 hit shutout. They lost 2 heart breakers after that, 1-0 against the Ann Arbor Braves who ended up taking 3rd at the Connie Mack World Series in New Mexico, and 4-3 in 9 innings against the Central Michigan Stars. 2006 looks optimistic also with 11 players returning to this squad.

• All of these teams had tremendous success, a special thanks to all of the players and parents but especially all of the coaches! Thanks for making Diamonds the #1 Summer Program and Training Facility in the Grand Rapids area.

Diamonds 13U and Diamonds 14U Travel Teams win League Championships!

The Diamonds 13U Travel Team and the Diamonds 14U Travel Team have both won their League Championships out at Cannonsburg. The 13U team managed by Craig Coulson and Brian Ritsema went 17-2 in League play to claim the Championship. Diamonds 14U team managed by Brian Morris and Steve Nyhuis went 17-1-1 to win the League and is 34-4-1 overall. Congratulations!
